The Top Ranked Horses in the World

THE WORLD'S LEADING HORSES

MANDURO (GER) [130] has retained the mantle of top ranked racehorse in the world in the latest edition of the World's Leading Horses, which covers the period 1st June 2007 to 25th November 2007. His impressive performances in winning both the Prix du Haras de Fresney Le Buffard Jacques le Marois (G1) over 1600m and the Prix Foy Gran d'Albion Barriere (G2) over 2400m proved his versatility in terms of distance, but it was his performance in beating DYLAN THOMAS (IRE) [128] and NOTNOWCATO (GB) [123] impressively in the Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1) over 2000m at Royal Ascot that has confirmed his status as the best horse in the world as ranked by the panel of official handicappers drawn from the major racing nations affiliated to the IFHA.

ADMIRE MOON (JPN) [123] equally demonstrated versatility in terms of distance in returning to form when winning the Japan Cup (G1) over 2400m, having previously won the Dubai Duty Free (G1) earlier in the season over 1777m. His performance in defeating POP ROCK (JPN) [122], who himself produced a career best effort in finishing second, enabled Admire Moon to regain his position as top racehorse in Japan, while MEISHO SAMSON (JPN) [122] matched his performance in the Tenno Sho (Autumn) (G1) with a fine run in third.

EFFICIENT (NZ) [120) showed an impressive turn of foot in the straight to win the Emirates Melbourne Cup (G1) and his performance in that race ranks him only just behind the Irish stayers SEPTIMUS (IRE) [122) and YEATS (IRE) [121] and equal to SCORPION (IRE) [120] in the extended distance category.

SACRED KINGDOM (AUS) [120] announced himself as a potential new star in the sprinting division when easily winning the Cathay Pacific International Sprint Trial (HK2) and now shares top rank in the sprinting category with two horses he is scheduled to meet in the forthcoming Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint (G1), namely BENBAUN (IRE) [120] and MISS ANDRETTI (AUS) [120], who has recently annexed the Schweppes (G2) and the Age Classic (G1) to add to her impressive success in the Kings Stand Stakes (G2) at Royal Ascot back in June.

The World's Leading Horses are compiled by the World Rankings Supervisory Committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA). The next World's Leading Horses listing will be released in early January 2008.
