More online betting in Australia

New proposed regulations in the Australian state of Victoria would allow bookmakers to conduct internet and telephone betting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This would enable bookmakers to compete with their competitors in other states such as Northern Territories, where there is a buoyant online bookmaking sector.

The new proposed regulations would also allow corporations to be registered as bookmakers. Until now, only individuals are allowed to register as bookmaker.

Finally, the changes would allow tote operator Tabcorp to offer fixed-odds on all races.
