New US initiative to further improve integrity of racing

The Thoroughbred Racing Protective Bureau (TRPB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America (TRA) that oversees issues of integrity and security in the Thoroughbred industry, announced today it has contracted with InCompass Solutions Inc. to provide information technology services that better enable TRPB to perform wagering analysis and conduct racing and wagering investigations through the near-real-time monitoring of wagering information.

The agreement was jointly announced by Alan Marzelli, president of The Jockey Club and chairman of InCompass, and Frank Fabian, president of the TRPB, at The Jockey Club’s 54th annual Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Sunday, Aug. 20.

“InCompass’ expertise within the Thoroughbred racing industry in database management and software development made it the logical choice to address the technology needs of TRPB’s Betting Analysis Project,” Fabian said. “Consistent with other initiatives TRPB has undertaken, this collaboration has resulted in an even more robust analytic and monitoring process of North American pari-mutuel pools and the simulcast locations wagering into them.”

“This is an example of two industry organizations working together to enhance wagering security based on what’s possible today,” said Marzelli. “The Jockey Club and its family of companies are proud to play a supporting role in this important initiative.”

The TRPB was incorporated in 1946 as a private investigative agency. It represents a unified effort by TRA-member racetrack associations to maintain high operating standards, protect the integrity of the sport and preserve the business interests of its member racetracks.

InCompass, a subsidiary of The Jockey Club, integrates diverse technologies required to manage modern racing operations efficiently and effectively. InCompass is the racing office and horsemen’s bookkeeper vendor to racetracks that represent 80% of the total racing days and 95% of live handle in North America.

A complete transcript of the 2006 Round Table Conference will be accessible on The Jockey Club website (www.jockeyclub.com) on or about Wednesday, Aug. 23.
