Police to investigate betting abuse in UK | |
Irish star jockey Kieren Fallon is among a few racing individuals charged by the London police for laying horses on Betfair, the exchange betting platform. Fallon denies the charges. The Horseracing Regulatory Authority has suspended or limited the licenses to run races of the jockey's involved and has restricted the racing rights of the accused trainer. The HRA announced today that hearings before a special panel of the HRA will be convened in the coming days so that these individuals may make early representations to support their applications for new licences or for restrictions on their licences to be lifted. The jockeys will not be able to take up any rides, including ones for which they are booked today, until the outcomes of their hearings are known.
