|New Australian law against unauthorised betting|
The regional government of West Australia will propose a law in June that will prohibit the use of racing data of races held on its territory without authorisation. The law is similar to the one passed by the region of Victoria earlier this year and is directed against foreign betting websites and betting exchange.
Both foreign and Australian betting operators of other states can use the race field data for free at the moment, but will need commercial agreement from Racing and Wagering WA in the future. This is a step further than the law in Victoria, which fixes a 1.25 per cent turnover fee to bet on Victorian.
