|Search for Triple Crown Sponsor|
The Triple Crown, a trophy for the winner of 3 of the U.S. most prestigious races, the Belmont Stakes, The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, has not yet found a sponsor. This will effect the level of bonus for the winner of the series.
It is said that important individual sponsorship deals for each of the three races are the reason for reluctance of sponsors to sign for the series.
Although the lack of a series sponsor may lead to a smaller bonus, prize money for each of the races remains high, with The Kentucky Derby topping the league with $2 million and $1 million for the Preakness and Belmont Stakes each. What remains unaffected is off course the breeders value of winners, which are likely to be much higher than the prize money.
