UK inquiry of shirt sponsorship of online gambling sites

The British government has started an inquiry into the legality of shirt sponsorhip of football clubs by online gaming sites. The government fears that such sponsorship will break advertising regulations as they target children.

Four football teams in the Premier League are currently shirt sponsored by online gaming sites. They obviously rejected the government's concerns. The legal situation of these clubs, who also play international matches in other European jurisdictions where the services of their shirt sponsor are illegal, remains unchallenged so far.
