Calls for Code of Practice on betting at 2012 Olympics | |
Pressure is put on the UK government to come up with a code of conduct for betting at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The code would have to be made by the Gambling Commission in cooperation with the London 2012 Organising Committee. The International Olympic Committee and some Members of Parliament have expressed concern about the risks of gambling to the integrity of sports. According to a one member of parliament, a betting code should restrict, or even ban betting on those sports for which integrity poses a high risk. However, the government minister said in response that integrity remains the full responsibility of the sporting body or events organiser. |
