Survey shows need for more regulation of online betting in UK

A private survey of 1000 UK bettors shows that 80% believes that the government needs to regulate more the online gaming market

Other conclusions from the survey:

  • 65% of the people think the industry does too little to prevent problem gambling;
  • People who place sports bets on the Internet spend more than those gambling by phone, in person or at sports venues;
  • Internet sports betting sites have the least protection against under-age gambling;
  • 35% of the people believe that overseas based gambling sites are less trustworthy than UK based sites;
  • Although Internet gamblers plan to bet more than land-based gamblers, more than 50% of the people do not know to play most casino games and most casinos were failing to help;
