Study on betting and integrity of sports

UK sports bodies for football, cricket, tennis and rugby have commissioned the University of Salford's centre for the study of gambling Central Council for Physical Recreation to carry out an academic risk assessment of the threat gambling poses to the integrity of their game.

The sports fear that their image will suffer from allegations of match fixing, which may ultimately also effect commercial interests in their sport like sponsorship.

The British Horseracing Authority actively supports the other sports with its expertise on protecting the integrity of the game.
