New Chief Executive of German racing

As from 1 January, the German umbrella organisation for flat racing, Direktoriums für Vollblutzucht und Rennen, has a new Chief Executive, 50 year old Engelbert Halm.

Halm, who has a background in the energy sector, will have the task to develop a restructuring plan for the industry in the coming 12 month. The 40 race clubs are suffering from a declining income from betting, which has reached a record low of €50 million in 2006.

The restructuring will focus on centralising powers, creating a more efficient organisation and improving the central marketing of data and images.
